Lay Counselor - Educator - Health Promoter

General Objectives

The Health Educator will play a crucial role in supporting MSFs Primary Healthcare Project in Tirah. This position requires a dedicated and compassionate individual with a strong background in health education and community engagement. The Health Educator will work closely with the local community and healthcare teams to promote health awareness, preventive measures, and healthy behaviors.

Key Responsibilities:

Health Education and Promotion:

Plan, develop, implement, and deliver health education activities and materials to the local community.

Conduct health education sessions on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, maternal and child health, and disease prevention.

Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate and up-to-date health information is provided to patients and their families.

Community Engagement:

Build and maintain strong relationships with the community to understand their healthcare needs and concerns.

Organize community meetings and focus group discussions to gather feedback and assess the effectiveness of health education programs.

Training and Capacity Building:

Train and support community health workers and volunteers in delivering health education messages.

Provide ongoing training and mentorship to ensure the communitys ability to take charge of their health.

Data Collection and Reporting:

Collect data on health education activities and community health indicators.

Prepare regular reports on the progress and impact of health education initiatives.

Collaboration and Coordination:

Work closely with the healthcare team to integrate health education into the overall healthcare strategy.

Collaborate with other MSF departments to ensure a holistic approach to healthcare delivery.

Additional Responsibilities:

Patient-Centered Care (PCC):

Embrace and promote the principles of Patient-Centered Care (PCC) in all health education activities.

Incorporate PCC awareness into health education sessions, emphasizing the significance of patient involvement in healthcare decision-making.

Encourage patients and their families to actively participate in their healthcare decision-making processes.

Facilitate discussions and workshops on the importance of PCC, emphasizing the value of collaboration between healthcare providers and patients.

Feedback Collection and Accessibility:

Develop alternative methods for gathering feedback from individuals who cannot read and write, such as using pictorial or visual aids.

Ensure that feedback collection methods are culturally sensitive and respect the privacy and dignity of all individuals.

Feedback Analysis and Reporting:

Analyze the feedback received from the community, including alternative forms of feedback, to identify areas for improvement in healthcare services.

Regularly report the findings and recommendations to the healthcare team, contributing to continuous quality improvement efforts.
