Trainee IT Security Engineer

Responsibilities:

Contribute to incident response efforts by triaging security incidents, conducting initial investigations, and escalating critical issues to senior team members.

Assist in managing vulnerability assessment and penetration testing activities, including scanning systems for vulnerabilities, analyzing results, and assisting in remediation efforts.

Support security assessments and audits of IT systems, applications, and infrastructure to ensure compliance with security policies, standards, and regulations.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security best practices and controls in IT systems and applications.

Assist in maintaining documentation related to security policies, procedures, and configurations.

Experience in any programming language is preferred.

Stay current with industry trends, emerging threats, and best practices in cybersecurity through self-study and participation in training programs.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.

Strong interest in cybersecurity and a desire to pursue a career in the field.

Basic understanding of networking concepts, operating systems (preferably Linux), and common security principles.

Understands assessments of web applications to identify vulnerabilities in accordance with the OWASP Top 10.

Is aware of OWASP AS VS for automated scanning and manual testing of web applications.

Knowledge around web penetration testing using tools like ZAP to identify security weaknesses.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and security practices.

Prior internship or coursework in cybersecurity is desirable but not required.
