Increase Taxation To Stabilise Economy: IMF
In a latest statement after the much debated mini budget, Teresa Daban Sanchez, International Monetary Fund’s Chief Resident Officer in Pakistan, told the current government to increase the overall taxes on the market to stabilize the economy.
She was reported in an English daily as
“Our understanding is that it includes a set of tax, administrative and regulatory measures aimed at lifting distortions that could foster private sector activities. Further measures are needed to increase revenue collection in the short term to support efforts to stabilize the economy.”
This comes after the current government presented a budget dubbed as the mini budget in the parliament. The general consensus about that has been mixed due to the lack of clearing as to how the public  and private sector will benefit by the subsidies provided in the budget.
