Job brief

We are looking for a System Administrator to maintain, upgrade and manage our software, hardware and networks.

Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. You should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users.

Your goal will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

Install and configure software and hardware.

Manage servers and technology tools.

Set up accounts and workstations.

Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.

Troubleshoot issues and outages related to system applications, VoIP and XMPP services.

Assisting the IT & Security Manager in technical fault analysis and troubleshooting.

Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls.

Upgrade systems with new releases and models.

Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies.

Inventory of Hardware and software, sourcing, assistance in purchasing, installation and maintenance of new software and hardware.

Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies.

Maintaining Network Documentation e.g. VISIO, Smart Draw.

Requirements

Minimum 3 to 4 years of proven experience in Linux System Administration (Ubuntu, Centos, Debian, Redhat) is a must.

· Experience with server virtualization technologies like VMWare Server/ESX or Microsoft HyperV/Virtual Server and Veeam Backup solution.

Hands on experience on VOIP, XMPP, DNS/NTP, Ansible and Open SSH.

Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management.

Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.

· Good Understanding of standard network services including TCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, DHCP, DNS and Wireless LAN Controllers.

Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl or other language.

Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms e.g MAC & Windows.

Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.

Excellent communication skills.

BSc/BS/BE in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certifications (e.g. MCSA, RHCA, CCNA) is a plus.
