Job Description

The Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education (SOE) invites applications for full-time and/or adjunct, permanent (tenure track) or fixed-term contract (1-3 years) faculty appointments at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor positions.

All specializations in the field of education including curriculum and assessments, leadership, higher education, special education, early childhood learning, and/or any other discipline (economics, psychology, management, computer science) with applications in education will be considered. Successful candidates will be required to design and teach the MPhil courses as well as undergraduate courses, assist in program development, and supervise Master's theses and capstone exercises. The maximum teaching load for faculty is four three-credit courses per academic year.

Salary is negotiable and commensurate to qualification and experience. There are a number of benefits including an individual research budget, regular support for participation in international academic conferences, contributory provident fund, medical insurance for self and family, subsidized housing facility, and a moving allowance for international candidates.

Qualifications

Applicants at the Assistant Professor level should hold a PhD / EdD in education or in any other discipline with a strong education related research component, or be near completion (within 6-months). Applicants for higher level positions must, in addition, have a proven track record of publications in high-impact international journals and a demonstrated capacity to pursue research funding and lead academic programs. Postgraduate teaching experience is preferable for Assistant Professors but essential for senior appointments. Candidates with the potential to produce international research, a commitment to excellence in teaching (in English), good interpersonal skills and networking ability will be given preference.

About LUMS SOE

LUMS SOE was established, in January 2017, as the fifth school at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), the premier private university in Pakistan. The School operates at the crucial nexus of research, policy and practice to produce education leaders who can shape a reimagined and vibrant education reform agenda for Pakistan.

In Fall 2018, SOE launched its flagship MPhil Education Leadership and Management (ELM), a two-year degree programme of both taught and field-based interdisciplinary coursework. At the undergraduate level, the School is collaboratively offering courses with other schools and departments at LUMS, building towards a Minor in Education in Fall 2019. The cutting-edge curriculum is implemented by the existing faculty body holding PhDs from renowned international institutions such as Columbia, Penn State, Ohio State, Korea Development Institute, Cambridge, Harvard and MIT.
