Communication Development Officer

Responsibilities

Tasks to be performed:

Assess, select and/or recommend appropriate information, IEC materials for Social and Behavioral Change Communication initiatives including COVID-19 pandemic, DRR and Climate Change.

Follow up and monitor the production of IEC material to ensure quality, consistency and relevancy of communications materials that are developed, produced and disseminated to target audience (e.g. individual, communities, government officials, partners, media etc).

Use quality IEC materials and organize events/activities to ensure Parents Teachers Committee members and Community engagement to maximum outreach and impact.

Support SSC in implementation of capacity building initiatives, to enhance the competencies of education officials on Social and Behavioral Change Communication planning, implementation and evaluation in support of program.

Collaborate/consult with a wide range of partners and stakeholders to ensure synergy, integration, coherence, and harmonization among Education Department, Forest Department on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change including in humanitarian response.

Provide technical, administrative, logistical support and prepare background materials to carry out awareness raising campaigns, strategies, activities, plans, methods and procedures to ensure community engagement, participation, optimum outreach and impact.

Collect, assess and organize information for budget planning, management of programme funds, prepare documentations and related materials for financial planning for Social and Behavioral Change Communication initiatives.

Ensure that girls and boys function as agents of change – in the thematic areas of School Safety, DRR and Climate change, where formative research demonstrates their role as key influencers and as a primary participant group.

Education:

A university degree in one of the following fields is required: social and behavioral science, social science, sociology, anthropology, psychology or education.

Experience:

At least 5 years of extensive experience in project management, planning and implementation, familiarity with donor funded development projects is an asset;

Experience in coordination and ensuring consistency in implementation of the different projects

Strong analytical skills, oral and written communication and team building skills;

Excellent working level of English language in both writing and speaking

Functional Competencies:

Expertise in Practical experience in the adaptation and application of communication planning processes to specific program is required. Extensive field experience is an important advantage.

Languages:

Fluency in English required. Knowledge of the local working languages (both Urdu & Pushto) of the duty station is essential.

Official Travel Involved:

Travel to districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including NMDs.
