Media Relations Officer

To support provincial communication officer and provincial EOC in drafting communication material, press releases, talking points, holding statements, speeches, documentation, presentations, media relations, crises management, engaging mainstream media for the program.

Duties and Responsibilities

Draft and edit briefing papers, speeches, talking points, meeting minutes, donor reports, and media content for the Polio programme.

Research, verify content, and transform complex and technical papers into clear, meaningful and reader friendly communications content to be used for advocacy purposes.

Support to organize a periodic meeting of the PEOC Communication Task team and provide necessary support as required.

Draft briefing notes/ reports on potential media visits/ workshops and assists in organizing events/activities (inaugurations) relevant to PEI in consultation with communication team especially around SIAs .

Draft responses to media queries related to the Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI)/Health and coordinate with partners on the sharing of information and updates.

Prepare/advise on slide presentations (PowerPoint) to support the programme as required.

To keep close liaison with Peshawar and districts local press clubs, Directorate of Information, Radio Pakistan, FM channels and other line departments.

Arrange and facilitate talk shows/ Public Service Messages/ Announcements (PSAs)/ for TV and radio on polio/ integrated messages.

To develop press releases regarding campaign inaugurations/meetings/events/ world polio day etc

Excellent command on English/urdu/Pashto languages, drafting in Inpage, Corel Draw, Adobe etc

To develop mitigation strategies/ crises communications/ to counter negative propagandas against polio/health interventions

Day to day sharing of updates with Communication officer UNICEF

Submission of monthly report to Communication Officer.

Essential Requirements

At least masters degree in Journalism and Mass Communication or social sciences

At least 5 years experience in the field.

Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Good Communication and Presentation skills

Experience in Research

Good expertise in Reporting and Analysis
