Responsibilities & Context

Summary of Project

RDRS Bangladesh, in partnership with Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Geneva has been implementing an emergency response programme titled “LWF-RDRS Emergency Programme (LREP)” in Rohingya camps and nearby host communities in Cox’s Bazar district since 2019. The LREP contributes to international efforts to meet the humanitarian and protection needs and increase self-reliance and resilience of the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) and host communities through Income Generating Activities (IGAs), tree plantation, life-skills with livelihoods and leadership development training. LREP also works on capacity building of youth and creates market linkage to improve their living standard. This programme also aims at cultivating social cohesion, ensuring social inclusion, promoting reforestation and providing humanitarian support (i.e., foods and non-food items, WASH, health, protection, etc.) to the FDMNs as well as the nearby host communities.

Summary of Position

The Community Mobilizer will be responsible for implementing project interventions within the host community and refugee camps. The role involves conducting community-based activities, facilitating group formation, and supporting the implementation of income-generating activities (IGA) and livelihood plans implementing DRR interventions. The Community Mobilizer will actively engage with program participants, local stakeholders, and service-providing agencies to ensure the successful execution of project initiatives.

Description of Responsibilities

The major responsibilities of this position are as follows:

She/he will -

Support the implementation of livelihoods and DRR interventions through issue-based meetings, training sessions, community consultations, and events

Conduct needs assessments for Income income-generating activities (IGA) and facilitate life skills training with a focus on quality.

Facilitate the selection of beneficiaries according to guidelines for forming community groups, youth groups, and union federations.

Conduct regular group meetings and ensure active participation.

Assist community-based groups in developing and executing their IGA and livelihood plans.

Coordinate with service-providing agencies to build linkages and enhance the impact of community initiatives.

Ensure the distribution of assets or inputs to beneficiaries aligns with the finalized plan and participants list.

Ensure the participation of women and young people in project planning and implementation.

Engage in local-level networking to influence development stakeholders, including government, NGOs, and the private sector.

Focus on women and youth entrepreneurship development and contribute to market system development for project participants.

Provide capacity-building training on business plans for IGA and enterprise development.

Conduct surveys, assessments, data collection, and case story documentation in collaboration with the MEAL Officer and supervisor.

Gather, share, and report information on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure effective communication and reporting.

Actively participate in all stages of the implementation process in the assigned working areas.

Arrange and facilitate training sessions, meetings, workshops, campaigns, events, etc., at the union and camp levels.

Conduct regular field visits, and follow-ups, and provide support to the team as needed.

Represent RDRS Bangladesh in the project location, maintaining regular consultations with the community, stakeholders, and key beneficiaries.

Perform any other activities assigned by the authority.
