Database Administrator

The Position:

Perseus Operating Group, a division of Constellation Software Inc. is seeking a Database Administrator to be responsible for managing and maintaining various databases used for application and reporting purposes. The successful candidate should also have a good understanding and working knowledge of managing Microsoft Power BI.

The standard working day is 17:00-01:00 PKT time zone.

Responsibilities:

Installing, patching, and managing Microsoft SQL Server

Implementing changes in database operations and ensuring data is readily available to end-users.

Minimizing downtime of databases and ensuring data provided is accurate.

Managing database access and keeping stored data up to date.

Providing training, feedback, and support to users on the usage of data provided.

Ensuring that the database is adequately backed up so that vital information can be retrieved in case of accidental loss or security breach.

Monitoring performance and providing information on ways to improve the authenticity and security of data.

Maintaining the efficiency of the database by providing regular checks and data updates.

Power BI Administration

Utilize Power BI to build interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports.

Perform detailed analysis on tested and deployed Power BI scripts.

Make essential technical and strategic changes to improvise present business intelligence systems.

Identify the requirements and develop custom charts accordingly.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Degree in computer science, computer information systems (CIS), or related field preferred.

Knowledge of security best practices.

Experience and working knowledge of MS SQL technology and T/SQL including database design principles.

Experience with database development and management software.

Experience managing Premium capacities.

Experience with monitoring and maintaining Power BI workspaces

Experience working with data warehouses.

Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently.

Logical thinker, meticulous, and pay attention to detail to prevent errors.

Collaborative and adaptable team player.

Ability to take initiative and make suggestions for improvement.

Flexible, dependable, and committed to quality work.

Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills:

Microsoft certifications are preferred.

Exceptional documentation and customer service skills.

Ability to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.

Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.

Available to provide 24x7 on-call availability on a rotating basis.

Ability to work within a diverse geographically distributed team.

Willing to adjust work schedule to accommodate business needs.

Familiarity with PowerShell

Familiarity with GIT

Familiarity with MS DevOps
