Medical Doctor

Main Purpose

As an MSF Medical Doctor, you will be responsible for delivering medical care to vulnerable populations, diagnosing and treating various medical conditions, and contributing to the improvement of healthcare in the region. Provide outpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries’ health conditions.

Accountabilities

1. Patient Care:

Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols.

Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.

Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions, adhering to MSF protocols and guidelines.

Prescribe medications, therapies, and treatments as required.

Continuously monitor and follow up on patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.

Provide health education and counseling to patients, emphasizing preventive healthcare measures.

Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood including involving patient/care taker in the decision making process.

Apply patient cantered care approach (Advocate for patients to ensure they receive appropriate services and resources).

2. Primary Health Care Services:

Actively participate in MSFs primary healthcare programs, ensuring that they are implemented effectively.

Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses and support staff, to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Contribute to health promotion initiatives and community outreach programs.

3. Emergency Response:

Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies within the OPD and provide initial stabilization and care.

Assist in referrals and transfers of patients to higher-level healthcare facilities when necessary.

4. Data Management:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in accordance with MSF standards.

Compile medical data and statistics for reporting purposes.

Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager about any problem or complication of the patients’ illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.

5. Quality Assurance:

Adhere to MSFs medical protocols and best practices to provide the highest quality healthcare.

Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.

Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.

Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and clinical audits.

Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards

6. Others:

Participating in on-going personnel training (care techniques, updating protocols, etc.)

Participating to the weekly training session proposing and presenting topics.
