Medical Technician for Cutaneous Leishmaniasis

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

To provide Cutaneous Leishmaniosis (CL) patient care during the CL treatment according to the CL MSF protocol and to doctors’ prescriptions. Following MSF protocols & guidelines in order to ensure good quality care of CL patients in the MSF MOH CL health program.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Implement & follow guidelines of the Cutaneous Leishmaniosis (CL) protocol.

Ensure the implementation of universal precautions and IPC activities.

Receive patients at the CL clinic and plan, prepare & organize CL treatment plan as per the prescription of the MOH Dermatologist

Prepare and administer the CL treatment of intra-muscular or intralesional injections as per the medical prescription

Identify any drug reactions, and side effects and provide the first basic treatment for CL patients

Record the results of CL treatment and side effects for patient reporting

As per doctor’s prescription provide CL wound care (varying for adult & child) and dressing as per MSF wound care protocol

Participate and record the results of clinical medical trials of CL for Drug therapy and Thermotherapy as per MSF protocols under the supervision of the CL Nurse, CL MAM, and Clinical Trial manager.

Ensures preparation of injection & wound care trolley and maintenance of all MSF equipment/apparatus and materials used

Provide first care in case of emergency waiting for medical team support

Collect the medical history of new patients and complete medical files

Promotes compliance together with the rest of the staff with the proper implementation of MSF infection prevention control measures in the clinic/hospital
