Emergency SBC Consultant

1- Job Purpose:

The Emergency SBC Consultants played an important role in ensuring FLWs have accurate knowledge and capacities to conduct effective community engagement, ensure improved coordination amongst government and civil society partners and other key stakeholders for enhancing knowledge and awareness and improve practices, evidence generation and monitoring and evaluation of UNICEF SBC specific interventions at district and community level.

2- Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordination, Collaboration and Partnership: Support the government for the smooth functioning of RCCE /SBC and cross-sectoral coordination forums and strengthen it by identifying, developing, and maintaining partnership and collaboration with relevant institutions.

Designing evidence-based RCCE/SBC interventions,culturally appropriate communication messages and material giving special attention to children and vulnerable groups living in most deprived communities in priority districts. This includes developing key messages and providing accurate information using credible and trusted sources.

Support to implementation of RCCE/SBC activities,provide oversight and technical guidance to planning, use of multiple communication channels and development of partnerships with CSOs, other external partners and engagement of the population concerned.

Capacity strengthening of the government and nongovernment partners, networks, and communities by adapting, developing, and pretesting training material/guideless and tools

Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation:liaison with CSOs, Government and UN Agencies to collect, collate and report data, contribute to RCCE and SBC reports, conduct monitoring visits and document lesson learned. This includes monitoring information from social mobilizers, spokespersons, and audiences to detect new behaviors and rumors. It also includes reviewing /adjusting key messages and activities to respond to needs identified through regular monitoring of information from social mobilizers, community members and other partners as well as reinforcing positive behaviors that are being adopted.

Innovation, knowledge management:Implement innovative practices, approaches, and latest context-appropriate technology for RCCE and SBC, institutionalize and share best practices.

Any other relevant task assigned by the supervisor

3- Essential Requirements:

An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Mass Communication or Social Sciences will be preferred first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree. A minimum of 03 years of relevant professional experience in the development sector specifically in the fields of communication, demand generation, risk communication and community engagement, community based social mobilization, and evidence generation is required.

Relevant experience conducting, managing and designing field work and data collection for research projects.

Fluency in English and Urdu is required. Knowledge of local languages is an asset

Excellent written English communication skills, with focus on quantitative data analysis and descriptive reports for diverse audience, will be an asset.

Exceptional organizational skills, ability to facilitate communication and coordination between various levels of management and partners and work independently in order to meet deadlines
