Training Officer-Inclusive Education

Responsibilities & Context

Handicap International-Humanity & Inclusion (HI) has been working in Bangladesh since 1997, focusing on creating sustainable changes to ensure the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in society.

Operational Thematic: Livelihood, Health and Rehabilitation, Protection, Inclusion, Education, and Atlas Logistics.

Number of staff: Around 342 national staff and 4 international staff.

HI, is looking for Training Officer-Inclusive Education for its "Access to Education for Children with Disabilities in Rohingya Refugee Camps and Host Communities" project funded by UNICEF and "Education Cannot Wait Muti-Year Resilience Programme-II (ECW MYRP II)" project funded by ECW. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Training Officer-Inclusive Education contributes to the implementation of the mandate and the 10-year strategy of Humanity & Inclusion in the country where s/he is based. The Training Officer-Inclusive Education contributes to the implementation of his/her project, ensuring optimal quality and impact. S/he works closely with the programme technical team.

Duration of the Contract: UNICEF funded project: As early as possible to 31 March 2025 and ECW funded project: 24 February 2025

Mission 1: Operational implementation

Objective 1: Training and Material Development (Inclusive Education) Provide technical guidance to field-level educational facilitators (teaching staff) & non-teaching staff to address their challenges in implementing inclusive education such as classroom management, reasonable accommodations, Individual Education Plan (IEP), and harmonization among children with disabilities. Communicate with relevant partner organizations and officials for developing inclusive education plans for education facilities. Regular communication with technical staff in rehabilitation and accessibility to implement comprehensive support on specific learning needs of children with disabilities and teachers. In Coordination with STO, He or she is responsible for the modification and adjustment of learning materials appropriate for the specific type of children with disabilities. Monitor inclusive educational activities of targeted children from an expected technical outcome based on respective IEP & IRP. Participating in close collaboration with the STO on the design or update of tools and processes according to the needs. Supervising the implementation of the field tools validated by inclusive technical referent (HI). Checking the quality of learning materials/raw materials (for developing accessible educational material) purchased before receiving a delivery from the supply chain. Raising the urge for change, providing updates, and identifying improvement areas of relevant education activities according to the field requirement. Regular communication at the field level with external education actors and reporting updates to the line manager.

Objective 2: Supervision and Coordination Identify technical weaknesses, challenges, and strengths of the targeted educational facilities and provide concrete solutions and capacity building to address these issues. Identify opportunities for possible internal and external coordination and notify TM. Monitoring the activities of targeted educational facilities for quality, efficiency, and appropriate response to the identified needs and reporting immediately. Supervised and on-the-job capacity building of community volunteers in the field.
