Responsibilities & Context

The Deputy General Manager (Engineering) in Cold Storage is a leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the engineering operations within a cold storage facility. This position involves strategic planning, project management, and ensuring the efficient functioning of all engineering aspects related to cold storage infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and direction to the engineering team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Supervise, mentor, and guide engineering staff, ensuring effective communication and optimal team dynamics.

Develop and implement strategic plans for the engineering department, aligning with overall organizational goals.

Oversee the maintenance and optimization of cold storage systems, including refrigeration units, HVAC systems, M&E and other related equipment.

Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations for cold storage operations.

Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure the integrity of stored products and efficient cold chain management.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency.

Develop and manage the engineering department budget, monitoring expenses, and optimizing resource allocation.

Work closely with the finance department to ensure financial goals are met and exceeded where possible.

Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, logistics, and safety, to ensure seamless integration and coordination of activities.

Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute engineering expertise to support overall business objectives.
