Summary of Project
RDRS Bangladesh, in partnership with Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Geneva has been implementing an emergency response programme titled “LWF-RDRS Emergency Programme (LREP)” in Rohingya camps and nearby host communities in Cox’s Bazar district since 2019. The LREP contributes to international efforts to meet the humanitarian and protection needs and increase self-reliance and resilience of the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMNs) and host communities through Income Generating Activities (IGAs), tree plantation, life-skills with livelihoods and leadership development training. LREP also works on capacity building of youth and creates market linkage to improve their living standard. This programme also aims at cultivating social cohesion, ensuring social inclusion, promoting reforestation and providing humanitarian support (i.e., foods and non-food items, WASH, health, protection, etc.) to the FDMNs as well as the nearby host communities.
Summary of Position
Under the overall responsibility and control of the Team Leader (LREP), The Camp Focal will be responsible for implementing, and coordinating project initiatives within the Rohingya refugee camps and host communities. The Camp Focal will be a key person between the RDRS Bangladesh and the Rohingya community within the camp area. This role demands a deep understanding of the community's dynamics, needs, and challenges. The Camp Focal will play a vital role in facilitating effective communication and coordination with camp authority, Service Providers, community people and other internal and external stakeholders.
Description of Responsibilities
The major responsibilities of this position are as follows:
She/he will -
Implement all project activities in the working areas. protection strategies to assess the needs of vulnerable individuals in the Rohingya refugee camps and host communities.
Act as the focal person to contact with the community people within the camp area.
Establish and maintain relationships with community leaders, representatives, and residents to understand their concerns, needs, and priorities.
Facilitate clear and accurate communication between the organization and the camp residents, ensuring that important information on programs, services, and activities is effectively disseminated.
Conduct needs assessments within the camp community to identify emerging issues, concerns, and priority areas.
Collect community feedback and ensure the organization's interventions are responsive to community needs.
Beneficiary selection for the relevant project activities.
Address and resolve conflicts and disputes within the camp, Report issues to higher management when necessary, ensuring timely resolution.
Collaborate with various sector teams (Livelihood, WASH, Protection, etc.) to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to addressing the needs of the camp residents.
Support and facilitate community mobilization activities, ensuring active participation and engagement of camp residents in various programs.
Work with community leaders to organize and conduct community meetings and events.
Assess and identify risks, vulnerabilities, and gaps in existing community engagement mechanisms through FGD, KII and surveys.
Conduct capacity-building activities for project staff and community people.
Represent RDRS in coordination meetings with stakeholders.
Ensure effective communication and coordination with external partners to enhance the synergy of efforts in the field.
Any other responsibilities assigned by the Team Leader.
