Network Engineer
Job Responsibilities
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
- Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's security team
- Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
- Perform Network design and Implementation of network related projects.
- Maintain operational level agreements with end users.
- Acquisition & Deployment
- Interact or co-ordinate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors for related solutions, support and service according to agreed SLA.
- Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards.
- Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
- Operational Management
- Manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches and other networking devices.
- Ensure network connectivity of all workstations.
- Administer all network related equipment, hardware and software upgrades including unified communication systems.
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Perform system backups and recovery.
- Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports to maintain SLA.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
- Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems in accordance with BG Information Security.
- Implement related accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with BG Information Security Policy.
- Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
