Laundry Attendant (COVID-19 Response)

Job Context

The Laundry Attendant will report to the EH Assistant and will be primarily responsible for disinfection, cleaning and storage of PPE materials as directed by the EH Assistant. He/she will work closely with the medical staff, hygienists and waste attendants to ensure that PPE are always available for use. Staff safety is a top priority and strict adherence to infection control procedures is necessary to prevent transmission of the disease. Personal protective equipment should be worn at all times in isolation units strictly in accordance with infection control protocols.

Contract Length: 6 Months

Job Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

Collecting items to be disinfected and washed from the scrubs room and the PPE dressing down areas.

Disinfecting (soaking), rinsing, washing and drying scrubs.

Disinfecting, rinsing and drying goggles, rubber gloves and aprons.

Disinfecting, scrubbing, rinsing and drying gumboots.

Sorting and returning dried scrubs to the changing room.

Sorting, checking for disrepair and returning dried re-usable PPE items to the PPE dressing up room.

Staff Supervision & Development:

No staff management responsibility.

Adhere to and act in accordance with the IRC Global HR Policies and Procedures.

Grant Monitoring & Reporting:

Monitor the availability of PPE for use.

Monitor the buckets for reusable PPE in the doffing area and ensure that they are disinfected and cleaned in time for reuse.

Other:

Consistently and proactively monitor/assess the safety and security of the team; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to the EH Assistant and liaising with Health staffs and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for IRC programs.

Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop IRC programs.

Experience Requirements

At least 1 year(s)

Additional Requirements

Experience in working in health facilities and restaurants

Competent in communication skills, effective in representation and liaison

Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well

Knowledge of the local languages
