Senior NCD Officer

Responsibilities & Context

Purpose

The Senior NCD Officer will play an essential role in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects aimed at improving self-care for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). They will lead initiatives focused on engaging health system collaborators, assessing health facilities, providing training to healthcare workers and community health volunteers, and ensuring effective support for individuals living with NCDs. The role requires strong leadership, project management skills, and a deep understanding of NCD prevention and management strategies.

Major Responsibilities

Assisting Community Health manager, the co-creation workshops involving health system collaborators to develop and implement projects targeting NCD self-care initiatives.

Supervise the assessment of health facilities for readiness to support self-care for NCDs, ensuring adherence to assessment protocols and standards.

Monitor project progress, identify barriers, and develop strategies to address challenges.

Collaborate with relevant collaborators to ensure project landmarks are achieved within specified timelines.

Plan and facilitate training sessions for healthcare workers on NCD self-care initiatives, ensuring content relevance and effectiveness.

Provide ongoing mentorship and support to healthcare workers involved in NCD self-care initiatives.

Coordinate training programs for community health volunteers on supporting NCD self-care initiatives, including pre-and post-training assessments.

Monitor and evaluate the performance of healthcare workers and community health volunteers, providing feedback and additional support as needed.

Develop and maintain a repository of resources, standard methodologies, and tools related to NCD prevention and management.

Conduct regular assessments of healthcare workers and community health volunteers' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding NCD self-care initiatives.

Analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for enhancing program effectiveness.

Cultivate strong partnerships with relevant collaborators, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and community groups.

Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and other events related to NCD prevention and management.

Collaborate with external partners to leverage resources, share knowledge, and coordinate activities aimed at advancing NCD self-care initiatives.

Any other responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

Monitoring Responsibilities:

Keep record of all the health education/promotional sessions (disaggregated by gender/ age/ IDP/Host etc.).

Prepare and compile the training reports.

Responsible for compiling timely monthly activity reports and data compilation.

Confidentiality:

Ensure non-disclosure of any information whatsoever about practices and IRC activities to any other person or organization without permission, except in the normal performance of the service.

Deliverables:

Take part in the advocacy with sectoral and Government collaborators.

Take the lead in training the training of community volunteers.

Report any insecurity incidence timely to security focal person.
