Aide Nurse

• 1. Demonstrates Nursing care given in the name and spirit of Jesus Christ.
• 2. Monitors the patient's condition, including post-partum, post anesthesia, and acutely ill patients and notifies the appropriate staff nurse of any change in the patient's condition.
• 3. Properly cares for and is responsible for hospital equipment used.
• 4. Performs the following duties as approved by supervisor:
• a. Provides teaching to patient and songi about all procedures before performing them.
• b. Accurately obtains and records vital signs (BP, TPR) and notifies the staff nurse for any VS that are outside of normal parameters.
• c. Accurately measures and records Intake/Output on bedside chart.
• d. Assists with the admission procedure; including obtaining the weight and height of adults, children and infants.
• e. Collection of specimens for lab (urine, stool, sputum) with accurate labelling.
• f. Performs and/or instructs the songi in bed baths; including skin care, back care and oral care.
• g. Turns patients every two hours as indicated, performing appropriate Range of Motion and alignment of body; assists in ambulating and transferring weak patients.
• h. Dressing changes as ordered, maintaining sterile procedure when indicated.
• i. Ice bag and hot water bag preparation as ordered, ensuring that the patient is not burned.
• j. Provides NG Tube feedings as ordered per policy; accurately records Expressed Breast Milk and Intake/Output.
• k. Performs urinary catheterization as approved by supervisor.
• l. Provides post-mortem care.
• m. Enema administration.
• n. Prepares and gives of ORS as indicated.
• o. Teach and enforce Kangaroo care as ordered by doctor or as indicated.
• p. Monitor babies under Photo-therapy and teach mother/songi regarding this.
• q. Maintain the NC diet khata; assisting with bringing and distributing food as needed.
• r. Maintains Bedside checklist; especially at time of admission and discharge.
• s. Keeps the Ward clean and tidy, including changing bed linen as needed.
• t. Keeps the dressing trolley clean and stocked at all times.
• u. Maintains Infection Control procedures and protocols as indicated.
• v. Cares for O2 Concentrators and cylinders; assists in giving patients O2 as ordered and when indicated.

Full-time

• Eight pass but SSC preferred.
• Three years Junior nursing training completed.
