FIELD COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (Social Media)


Job Responsibilities
  • Duties for the social media focus of the position:
  • Create, edit, publish and curate content for publishing on MSF Bangladesh Facebook page (and other media/digital platforms), with support provided for translation where needed;
  • Travel to MSF projects to identify stories and produce digital content;
  • Contribute to the development of MSF social media strategy by providing contextual advice related to social media use and trends in the country;
  • Help MSF to build its social media audience through Facebook advertisement campaigns and managing online communities;
  • Monitor backend analytics and evaluate engagement of followers by geographic location, demographics, etc;
  • Suggest innovations for content creation and increasing MSF's social media audiences (live sessions with MSF staff, new formats, etc.);
  • Coordinate and boost the social media 'ambassadors' network in order to obtain a regular flow of content for MSF social media channels;
  • Monitor and analyse online topics and trending subjects that are relevant to MSF operations, as well as mentions of MSF on social media and report to supervisors on problematic MSF mentions on social media;
  • Highlight possible mis- and disinformation around health-related topics and/or MSF's medical activities, reporting these and proactively identify information gaps to support communications strategy-building;
  • Train staff in adhering to social media guidelines.
  • Other Accountabilities:
  • a) Content Production
  • 1. The FCO engages in creating content for Social Media and supervises the production of other local communications tools and products (leaflets, brochures, posters, radio spots, articles, photos, videos) according to local strategy and budget;
  • 2.In particular, the FCO will help identify the right communications tools and will adapt/translate communications materials to targeted audiences;
  • b) Internal Communications
  • 3.The FCO will inform/educate project-based staff about social media use, including about potential external communications risks, through trainings and briefings;
  • 4.If need be, the FCO can produce internal communications tools (newsletter, etc.) under the supervision of the FCM.
  • c) Reporting
  • 5.The FCO will participate in communications data-collection and reporting as required.
