Executive Director - Shipping
Job Responsibilities
- Operations:
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize procurement, supply chain, and inventory management.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.
- Oversee import and export processes, including customs compliance and documentation.
- Shipping and Logistics:
- Manage the logistics and shipping team to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products to customers.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and carriers to optimize shipping routes and costs.
- Implement best practices in inventory control and warehouse management.
- Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
- Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team in the commercial and shipping department.
- Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
- Budget and Cost Control:
- Develop and manage budgets for shipping operations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce operational expenses.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to shipping activities.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and international trade agreements.
- Implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential disruptions in the supply chain.
- Address any issues related to trade compliance and customs.
- Stakeholder Relations:
- Collaborate with internal departments, including production, sales, and finance, to align commercial and shipping activities with company goals.
- Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers, partners, and industry organizations.
