The Division:

Casitron has been serving the Canadian finance industry since 1980. We provide our clients with integrated hosted solutions encompassing both the front and back office applications, using legacy and web technologies.

The Position:

We are looking for an Oracle PL/SQL Developer on contract basis, who will be a key team member on our application redevelopment team. We are redeveloping our complex, established, legacy application using current technologies to increase operating efficiency, resiliency, enhance the customer experience, and adapt to new requirements as required. The Senior Oracle Developer role is key to this redevelopment. The successful candidate will use his/her superior interpersonal skills and experience to explore and clarify requirements so that creative solutions can be efficiently delivered. This person has strong technical skills, demonstrated soft skills, and produces high quality, testable and reliable code. He/she demonstrates strong attention to detail and investigative skills on assigned work.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with the Application Architect, Product Owner, and project team to establish requirements and processing specifications for new products and existing functionality changes
• Investigating and resolving open issues
• Actively participating in sprint reviews and contributing to product direction/design discussions.
• Working within deadlines in relation to product release timelines
• Assist other developers, analysts and designers in conceptualizing and developing new software programs and applications
• Develop custom applications using PL/SQL
• Make changes or enhancements to the data model as required and perform deployments across customer schemas in several database environments
• Analyze program specifications for logic and conformance to written specifications and standards
• Provide development estimates and actively identify changes in scope or work effort
• Develop and perform unit testing
• Document new programs and modifications to existing programs
• Fulfill administrative reporting requirements
• Review and rewrite older programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements as required
• Investigate and resolve defects (bugs)
• Participate in product direction/design discussions
• Work with deadlines in relation to product release timelines
• Communicate with customers as required
• Other duties as assigned by management
• The chosen individual will work out of the Contour Software Karachi resource center office, as an extension of the division-based R&D department.

Desired Skills and Responsibilities:

• Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical Degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Expertise in Oracle Database, SQL, and PL/SQL programming with at least 2 years of work experience.
• Significant experience with Git or another major SCM
• Work experience in data modelling and performance tuning
• Expertise in working with Oracle (12c) in a Linux environment, including shell scripting and command line database maintenance
