Medical Focal Point Assistant (MFPA)

Job Description

Main Objective:

In close collaboration with the MTL, ensures the proper functioning of the medical activities under his/her responsibility, defining and implementing MSF policies, protocols and procedures, and guaranteeing the quality of healthcare in order to improve health conditions of the target population.

Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the MTL, coordinate, assess and supervise the proper functioning of the medical activities according to MSF protocols and procedures and through the correct compilation and analysis of medical data regarding patients’ health conditions.

Coordinate and monitor the daily working plan of the team under his/her responsibility. Replaces a doctor if necessary and participates in shifts.

Ensure an efficient pharmacy and medical equipment management and monitor the rational use of them.

Participate in the programs / project follow-up, supervise and ensure that medical activities objectives under his/her responsibility are achieved and report to the technical referent any problem arising in the service.

Participates in the monthly reports according to guidelines (i.e. SitReps, medical statistical reports, etc.) and definition of annual planning, budget for the project.

Prepare the medical orders needed to implement the medical activities(s) under his/her responsibility, and identifies non-medical support needs (material, infrastructure, transport, etc.), reporting them to the line manager

Ensures proper implementation of the health policy for national staff, providing necessary preventive measures for MSF staff, safe structures/working environment and emergency plans.

Maintains patient confidentiality at all times and respects patients’.

Will have a direct supervisory role over some staff (check with MTL & project organogram)

Participates in exploratory situation assessments and define medical operational priorities when needed.

Actively participate in learning and development activities for staff under your supervision when required by L & D Manager

Requirements

Education

Minimum medical doctor degree (MBBS) or equivalent registered by PMDC or BSC in Nursing or equivalent registered by PNC with extensive medical management experience

Desirable:

A relevant postgraduate qualification in maternal and child health, public health, public health management, tropical medicine, etc. Two years’ experience in medical management related to job

Experience

Two year experience in medical management related to job program specifically

Languages

Proficient in English, Urdu and any other relevant local languages

Competences

Essential computer literacy ( word, excel, internet)

Good management, planning/organizing & group leadership skills - ability to manage and organize work independently and pro-actively, discipline, punctuality, time management and ability to work under stress and in difficult circumstances.

Ability to work under stress and in difficult circumstance

Good interpersonal & communication and team management skill

Capacity to work in a multidisciplinary and international team.
