Nurse Supervisor for Pediatric Ward

Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures, and supervise her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in her speciality.

Carry out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e. perform as a nurse whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.

Organize and coordinate the activities of her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.

Carry out and/or supervise the ( decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.) in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.

Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.

Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.), information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.) tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/ outcome and support decision-taking.

Give feedback/ reports to a medical focal point.

Ensures that the doctor has prescribed medication in the correct way and treatment given according to MSF protocols, and guidelines, and follows up progress daily and have reviewed all patients.

Be responsible for admission and discharge of patients according to doctor’s orders (documentation and assessment) supervise the staff nurse if she /he is following the MSF guideline in admission and discharge criteria

Attends ward rounds by the consultants/MDs in the ward including updates of the patients conditions

Have a clear and good communication and a good cooperation with all members of the project

Responsible for keeping her nursing skills updated for her department.

Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by NAM, PMR, MD

Monitor and supervise that the Infection prevention control procedure and the nursery-specific IPC procedures are in place in

Train and follow up staff on therapeutic patient education to the caretaker of the baby s

Organize the nursing staff to work in good and cooperation with other departments (laboratory, Health Promotion)

Ensure rehydration protocols are followed for ORS, ReSoMaL and iv fluid with proper close monitoring of the patient input and output chart

Schedules and organizes all nutrition-related activities

Retinue monitoring of the cold chain in the vaccine room

Training staffs on drug, fluid calculation and check if the drugs or the fluid that is given is the right fluid and dosage also drop factor

Supervise the implementation of the nutritional program according to MSF protocols, standards.

This includes:

Draw up out-patients activities planning, Follow up the evolution of patients and discuss the problem cases taking part in the medical assistant’s round, and install referral system, Check that medical and nutrition prescriptions are carried out, check the diffusion, knowledge and application of medical, nutritional and anthropometric protocols.
