Responsibilities & Context

Employment Type: Contractual (Initially 6 months with the probability of extension based on fund availability)

Overview:

The District Coordinator (DC)-Health Systems will play a pivotal role in assisting the Project Officer (PO)-Health Systems for the AMAN project in planning, managing, and reporting on a substantial maternal, child, and adolescent health and nutrition program in Cox's Bazar, funded by Global Affairs Canada. The primary focus is on immediate outcomes such as improved provision and uptake of gender-responsive nutrition services, enhanced knowledge and skills of health workers, heightened awareness of the linkages between health and the environment, and improved awareness of nutrition and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) services among vulnerable populations.

Role Profile:

Under the direct supervision and guidance of the PO-Health Systems, AMAN project, the DC’s key duties and responsibilities will include:

Project Planning and Implementation:

In cooperation with PO-Health Systems and government counterparts, develop a comprehensive monthly activity and implementation plan.

Discover and explore a wide range of opportunities for the efficient provision of essential nutrition services at the District and Upazilla levels.

Actively participate in the Bi-weekly coordination meeting, Half-Yearly Planning & Review Meeting (HPRM), and Annual Planning & Review Meeting (APRM) with the internal management team of the organization for the planning and progress review.

Capacity Development and On-the-Job Coaching and Mentoring Support:

Support to identify training needs/gaps of the health facility staff, Frontline Health Workers, First-line supervisors, health managers and project staff and propose capacity building measures to improve project performance under the AMAN project.

Organize and support in facilitation of program-related training.

Support to cascade training on delivering quality and respectful nutrition services for male and female frontline workers and multipurpose health volunteers (MHV) and their supervisors at the upazila level.

Support to undertake assessments/audits of changes in knowledge attitudes and practice post training.

Provision of Technical Assistance and on-the-job coaching.

Provide necessary technical support to the key officials and Front-Line Workers to promote delivery of tailored services and messages to project beneficiaries, i.e., pregnant and lactating women, adolescents, and children at the right time through pre-existing public health platforms including community clinics, and union, upazila and district level health facilities, with the objective of reducing missed opportunities both within and outside the health.

Undertake field visits to the government health facilities at the District and Upazila level, on a regular basis to discuss processes, review constraints, and provide necessary suggestions for proper implementation of the Health System component of AMAN project.

Participate in the monthly district and sub-districts/Upazila meetings of health and family planning departments and share the key updates and progress of the AMAN Project.

Conduct on-the-job coaching and mentoring support to the Front-Line Workers (FLWs) of health and family planning departments at the District and Upazila level to ensure the proper implementation of nutrition activities under AMAN project.
