District Coordinator- Multisectoral Nutrition action

Responsibilities & Context

Employment Type: Contractual (Initially 6 months with the probability of extension based on fund availability)

Organization: Nutrition International (A leading international NGO that works in the field of nutrition)

Overview: Support the project implementation team to manage, monitor, and report on the multisectoral nutrition action component of the AMAN (Adopting A Multisectoral Approach for Nutrition) project. The broad functions of the position of District Coordinator (DC) for the multisectoral nutrition action component are to advocate and liaison with the members of the District/Upazila Nutrition Coordination Committee (DNCC/UNCC) including Deputy Commissioner (DC), Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and the key officials and Front-Line Workers (FLWs) of the relevant priority government departments at the District, Upazila and below level, particularly the departments under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Ministry of Food, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, etc. and other key stakeholders including UN bodies, Development Partners (DPs) and NGOs/INGOs to design the foundation for the successful implementation of the multisectoral nutrition action component of AMAN project based on the Multisectoral Minimum Nutrition Package (MMNP).

Role Profile:

Micro-Level Project Planning and Implementation:

Develop detailed monthly activity and implementation plan.

Explore various opportunities for the integration of multisectoral nutrition actions at the District and Upazila levels.

Regularly participate in the different coordination meetings with the internal management team of the organization for the planning and progress review.

Advocacy and Liaison with the Priority Government Departments for the proper implementation of project activities:

Maintain liaison with the chairperson and member secretary of the committees to organize the District and Upazila Nutrition Coordination Committee (DNCC & UNCC) meetings.

Ensure liaison with the key officials of the priority government departments at the District and Upazila levels to develop the annual nutrition work plan of their respective departments.

Maintain proper coordination with the key officials and frontline workers of the priority government departments at the District and Upazila level to ensure the proper implementation of the annual nutrition work plan.

Maintain regular communication with the other key stakeholders including Development Partners (DPs) for the successful implementation of the activities of the project.

Regularly participate in different government meetings at the District and Upazila levels to represent the activities and engagement of the AMAN Project and Nutrition International.

Capacity Development and On-the-Job Coaching and Mentoring Support:

Undertake regular field visits to the priority government departments at the District and Upazila level to provide necessary technical support for the proper implementation of the annual nutrition work plan based on the Multisectoral Minimum Nutrition Package (MMNP).

Conduct on-the-job coaching and mentoring support to the frontline workers (FLWs) of the priority government departments to ensure the proper implementation of the annual nutrition work plans.
