IYCF-E Counsellor (Maternity Coverage)

The Opportunity

The Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E) Counsellor will promote and support IYCF-E key practices among mothers/caregivers of children two years of age and pregnant & lactating mothers. On a day-to-day basis, s/he will ensure that the all components of the programme are functioning properly by providing care of quality to all the beneficiaries through respecting guidelines and principles of good practice e.g. Operational Guidance on Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies, and Guiding Principles for Feeding Infant and Young Children in Emergencies - WHO, 2004. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Education

Bachelor Degree, preferably in Food & Nutrition from accredited academic institution

Experience

At least 3 years

Additional Requirements

03 years’ experience of working in similar position and working experience in emergency response will be given preference.

Proven capacity to train and coach staff

Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions.

Basic knowledge on IYCF-E will be an advantage.

Ability and willingness to frequently travel and stay at the field.

Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.

Demonstrable ability at report writing and excellent communication skills.
