Infant and Young Child Feeding (SBC/IYCF) Counselor

Key Responsibilities:

Provide individual and group counseling sessions to mothers and caregivers on breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and proper nutrition during the first 1,000 days of a child's life to the target population.

Organize Nutrition educational sessions on infant and young child feeding practices/KFCPs/Nurturing care at facilitation centers and community level.

Follow ups the families of registered in BISP and monitor the progress of mothers and caregivers in adopting recommended feeding practices.

Provide support and practical guidance to mothers and caregivers, addressing any concerns / challenges related to feeding practices.

Counsel mothers for breastfeeding, promote exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life and continue breastfeeding with appropriate complementary feeding up to two years and beyond.

Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions, assessments, and any other relevant data and submit onwards as per agreed frequency.

Prepare and submit periodic reports on the impact of counselling services and the progress of infants and young children in the program.

Train and mentor community health workers and volunteers/M-MSGs to enhance their knowledge and skills in this area.

Essential Requirements:

A University Degree Bachelor’s/BSc (Honours) in Nutrition, Second Preference Anthropology, Third Preference social sciences and Degrees must be from recognized institutes.

2 Years work experience in the field of Nutrition, counselling, IYCF and implementation of KFCPs/Nurturing care.

Strong command on languages [Pushto, Urdu and English] with good command over communication and counseling skills.

Well-developed skills for coordination, networking and working with people of different interest groups and backgrounds

Local candidates will be preferred.

Note:

Priority will be given to experienced staff with hands on skills of Managing the implementation of Nutrition Projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Staff will be hired initially for 03 months.

The positions are purely temporary, extension will be based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

These positions should not be considered as Government Job and are non-transferable.

Recruited candidates will not be entitled for any pension/gratuity for the service rendered, nor they will be able to claim service regularization or service extension.
