Senior Advocacy Officer (Climate Resilience)

Responsibilities & Context

Conduct vulnerability assessments based on climate change impacts faced by the mangroves community and develop community-based climate resilience plans in collaboration with local stakeholders. Engage with community and local governments for implementing on-the-ground resilience projects, such as sustainable land management, water conservation, and ecosystem restoration initiatives. Provide technical assistance and capacity building to community members on climate-smart practices and adaptation strategies. Support to sensitize project target in different meetings and trainings; sharing knowledge and best practices on climate resilience. Facilitate discussions and peer learning activities within the VCF groups on climate change issues. Support VCF members in applying climate resilience strategies within their communities. Prepare and present reports on climate resilience initiatives and progress to relevant stakeholders. Develop and deliver communication materials and trainings to raise awareness about climate change impacts and the importance of building resilience. Actively contribute to compelling storytelling that demonstrates impact in line with the climate resilience change ambitions. Develop impact story, document best practices on Climate resilience of Sundarban depended community.

Experience Requirements

Educational Requirements

Masters in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Disaster Management, Social Science or a related field.

Additional Requirements

Age at least 30 years

Experience of working with the public or community groups with flexibility to priorities workloads around incidents. Have clear Understanding on climate change, adaptation and mitigation. Strong interpersonal skills and well-developed written and oral communications skills in English and Bengali Computer literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Able to communicate effectively to a varied audience Grasp over gender issues, social inclusion Ability to work in the remote areas. Practicing child protection, gender, PSEA, Safeguarding, code of conduct and cultural diversity Able to operate virtual platform like Skype/Zoom/Microsoft Teams etc. Ability to drive a motorbike with valid motorbike driving license.
