Legal Officer - Office of Sponsored Programs & Research

Job Description

• Review and draft agreements including but not limited to Sponsorship Agreements, Grant Agreements, Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs), Confidentiality Agreements, and Consultancy Agreements to be signed by and between LUMS and external stakeholders.
• Maintain and update policies related to sponsored programmes and research applicable at LUMS.
• Manage all Intellectual Property (IP) related matters, including patent, copyright, trademark drafting and filing with IPO (Pakistan), WIPO and IP Offices across the world and also to facilitate commercialization of IP at LUMS.
• Follow up on opportunities for applied research and explore opportunities for technology transfer and the commercialization of university research (including incubators and research parks).
• Collaborate with the Principal Liaison for Technical Marketing and Licensing on the commercialization of the Institute's IP in coordination with manager industrial linkage
• Oversee LUMS’ IP webpage, in conjunction with the web committee
• Promote the development of public-private partnerships and collaborative arrangements in support of research activities at LUMS
• Extend support in preparing and reviewing research proposals
• Extends support in preparing business plans for research proposals
• Monetize royalty streams from licenses
• Other duties as assigned
